Application Procedures

An application for the September to mid-June academic year must be completed and returned to the Harbor Montessori School with a $50.00 non-refundable application fee. A form may be downloaded here. The application fee is only required once per child. Families re-enrolling their child(ren) are not subject to this fee. Applications will be reviewed in the following order:

  • Returning families who are in good standing in regards to finances and participation in the Volunteer Hours program have priority during the initial three weeks of registration. Families must remain in good standing to retain placement. This policy is extended to include siblings.
  • Children transferring from other Montessori schools.
  • New families.

 

Meeting and Observation

We ask that parents attend an informational meeting to learn more about the Montessori method and about HMS. During this meeting you will receive a tour of the school. Next, parents will observe in one of our classrooms for twenty to thirty minutes. These observations are usually scheduled on Monday through Thursday, between 9:15 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Please note that prior to enrollment, a child must demonstrate independence in using the restroom to enter the Primary Program (no diapers or pull-ups are allowed).
 

Interviews

A separate interview may also be arranged with your child (Elementary-Middle School); during this visit a tour is also given for your child. Prospective Elementary and Middle School students will then spend three days with their potential class, during which time their skills are assessed and their questions about the program are answered.
 

Acceptance

Families will be notified regarding acceptance to the school program. The family then completes and returns a registration packet, which includes an Enrollment and Tuition Agreement and other relevant student information (e.g., transfer of school record forms, student information form). Once this packet is returned to the school with a non-refundable registration fee of $300.00, the student's placement is secure until May 1st of that year.
 

Tuition

Pre-Payment One tenth of the annual tuition is due no later than May 1st. Another 1/10th payment is due by June 1st in order to finalize the child's placement for the fall. These pre-payments will be held and applied to the May and June payments at the end of the academic year. These payments are non-refundable.
 

Payment Plan

Annual tuition and before and after school care yearly fees may be paid on a monthly basis with ten equal payments. The first two payments are due on May 1st and June 1st (as outlined above). Beginning on September 1, the eight remaining payments are due on the first day of each month. (September - April).
 

Non-Discrimination Policy

Harbor Montessori School admits students without regard to race, color, religion, sex, family system, national and ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs and activities generally made available to students in the school. It does not discriminate in the administration of its educational policies, admission policies, or school administered program.
